Khedira wins german duel with Rüdiger

World Cup winner Sami Khedira emerged victorious with Italian record champions Juventus in the crunch game at the top of the Serie A. Facing off against Germany teammate Antonio Rüdiger’s AS Roma, Kedira’s Juventus edged the 1-0 win.

With their eleventh consecutive league win, the current holders are currently two points behind table toppers Napoli, who beat Sampdoria 4-2. Argentinean Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the evening for Juve.

Roma, who are still without a win under new manager Luciano Spalletti, are currently on course for Europa League football in fifth place. They now find themselves six points behind fourth-placed Inter, who drew 1-1 with FC Carpi.

Lazio comeback after Klose subbed on

World Champion Miroslav Klose secured an important victory with Italian side Lazio. The Rome-based club recorded a 4-1 victory over Chievo Verona on matchday 21 in the Serie A and currently find themselves in ninth place on 31 points.

Klose was brought on after 60 minutes with Lazio trailing Chievo 1-0. Germany’s all-time top goalscorer helped his side to an impressive turnaround as goals from Danilo Cataldi, Diao Keita and a brace from Antonio Candreva ensured a 4-1 victory for the home side.

It was a heated affair with Chievo’s Bostjan Cesar and Lazio’s Stefan Radu both receiving red cards, while Verona’s Alberto Paloschi also missed a penalty after Radu’s last man tackle.

Arsenal suffered a substantial blow in the Premier League title race on matchday 23, losing 1-0 at home to local rivals and defending champions Chelsea. World Champion Per Mertesacker was sent off with a straight red card after 18 minutes, while Diego Costa provided the only goal of the match five minutes later.
