Jones ahead of the EURO draw: “I'm looking forward to the draw"

The draw for the group stages of EURO 2017 will be made in Rotterdam’s Luxor Theatre on Tuesday (17:30 CET). The Germany women’s national team will then learn who they will face in next year’s competition.

National team head coach Steffi Jones will be present for the draw in Holland, with the DFB delegation being led by President Reinhard Grindel. A two day visit of the venues will then begin on Wednesday, with possible training venues and team hotels also being looked at.

Four pots, 16 teams

“I’m looking forward to the draw and I’m eager to find out who our opponents will be,” said Jones. “By increasing the Euros to 16 teams, it allows for interesting match-ups. We’re full of excitement for the tournament in the Netherlands, where they love football. We want to examine the match venues, training grounds and possible team camps after the draw.”

The groups will be drawn from four pots which are determined by the official UEFA coefficient rankings. Reigning champions in Germany find themselves in Pot 1, along with France, England and Netherlands, who as hosts, will be drawn in Group A. Pot 2 consists of Norway, Sweden, Spain and Switzerland, while Italy, Iceland, Scotland and Denmark make up Pot 3. Finally, Austria, Belgium, Russia and Portugal are in Pot 4.
