Jonathan Tah: "We must keep our organisation at the back"

The Germany U19s have a real battle on their hands this evening (20:00 CEST). In the second group match of the European Championship in Greece, Marcus Sorg’s team go head-to-head against the Netherlands. Germany already find themselves under immense pressure to reach the semifinals, after losing 3-0 in their opening match against tournament favourites Spain. Should they only draw against the Dutch side, Sorg’s men will need to beat Russia on Monday (20:00 CEST) and hope Spain can do them a favour.

Sorg, however, is relaxed about the situation: "We’re in the same situation that we were in at the Elite Round and we still have two games to play. Situations like this are very valuable for the development of young players”, the manager told DFB.de. Unlike against Spain, the recently suspended Max Christiansen is available for selection once again. Sorg announced that there will likely be some changes to the team ahead of the match.

Tah: "We know how to beat Holland“

One player that is certainly ready for the match is Jonathan Tah, who came across as very confident ahead of the match: “We’re fired up for the match against the Netherlands and are desperate to win. We made the necessary evaluations after the Spain match and we know that we can beat Holland”, said the 19-year-old. Tah sees an improved defence as the key to success for his team. “Our aim is to stay organised at the back. We have enough quality and can always score a goal. We need to create more chances and make them count".

After conceding early against Spain, when Mikel Merino gave his side the lead after just eight minutes, Sorg expected his team “get into the game and commit themselves to challenges with the necessary aggression." Everything has gone to plan in the team’s preparations for the game, with all players focused and concentrated as they completed the training session."
