Joachim Löw named FIFA World Coach of the Year

Germany’s World Cup winning coach Joachim Löw has been named the FIFA World Coach of the Year. He finished ahead of Champions League winning manager Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid) and Diego Simeone (Athlético Madrid).

The 54-year-old picked up 36.23% of the votes. International managers, captains and certain journalists voted for the award. Löw follows in the footsteps of former Bayern München manager Jupp Heynckes, who won the award last year after guiding the Bavarians to the treble.

"I'm obviously honoured to win the award. It's the icing on the cake. Those who know me, know that I don't see this as a personal award, even though I'm the one to receive it. World Cup success was the result of hard work. A coach needs to have a great team that listens to what he says and executes his plans. Working alongside these people is a gift," explained Löw after he received his award.
