Jérôme Boateng chosen as UEFA's Man of the Match

He’s won the ball! And he has won it again for the 24th time! Jérôme Boateng played an essential part against Poland once again, due the number of tackles he won, as well as other factors. In ascending order:

His average length of ball was 23.5 metres. The Germany defender played 31 passes forwards and had an average passing pace of 47.9 km/h over his overall total of 64. 74.19 percent of his forward passes hit their target and he was able to boast an impressive 87.5 percent success rate overall.

Boateng was also nominated as UEFA’s Man of the Match as he stopped Robert Lewandowski from shooting at goal on a number of occasions. Boateng commented on the achievement: “We play against each other now and again on the pitch and it is always difficult to play against him. He kept us on our toes along with Arkadiusz Milik but we dealt with the problem well as a team. We defended well together. Our good defensive work began from the front and that always makes it easier for us at the back.”
