Islacker out of European qualifiers

The head coach of the women’s national team Steffi Jones will have to without Mandy Islacker for the European qualifiers on 16th September (18:00 CEST) against Russia in Moscow and 20th September (16:00 CEST) againt Hungary in Györ. The 1. FFC Frankfurt attacker has been sidelined with a virus. Jones will not be calling up a replacement.

Felicitas Rauch from 1. FFC Potsdam and Pauline Bremer from Olympique Lyonnais have already pulled out of the team with muscular problems with FC Bayern München’s Olympic gold medalist Leonie Maier and Sara Doorsoun from SGS Essen being called up as their replacements.

The DFB squad will meet in Frankfurt for the first time under the new head coach on Monday, where they will have two days of preparation before flying to Moscow on Wednesday. The matches against Russia and Hungary will conclude the final part of the European qualifiers for the 2017 European Championship in the Netherlands, which Germany confirmed their place in before the Olympics. The next fixtures for the women’s national team after the qualifiers will be three home matches in Regensburg (22nd October), Aalen (25th October) and Chemnitz (29th November).
