Ingolstadt consolidate their lead

FC Ingolstadt consolidated their place at the top of the 2. Bundesliga on Sunday. The Bavarians, coached by Ralph Hasenhüttl recorded a 1-0 victory against bottom club FSV Frankfurt to take them to 22 points from 10 games. Karlsruher SC and VfR Aalen played out a 0-0 draw, whilst former Bundesliga side 1860 München lost 4-1 away to Erzgebirge Aue.

The victory was Ingolstadt’s sixth of the season and means that they are now four points clear of second place 1. FC Kaiserslauten. They are now unbeaten in 18 matches, which is a new record. FSV remain rooted to the foot of the table with 8 points, with 1860 München occupying the second relegation spot. The Lions are only one point better off and are struggling to find form so far this season. Victory over the team from München sees Aue move into 14th place with 10 points. The goalless draw didn’t help Aalen or Karlsruher much: They are in 13th and 9th place respectively.
