Important decisions stand on the agenda of the extraordinary Bundestag of the German Football Association (DFB), to which the 258 delegates from the regional and state organizations of the DFB, the DFB Executive Committee and the German Football League meet on Friday at the Congress Center Messe in Frankfurt/Main.
In the plenary session, which begins at 11 o'clock, the election of the new DFB president takes place. At the same time the double presidency of Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder as president and Dr. Theo Zwanziger as executive president ends. The only nominee for the presidency ist Dr. Theo Zwanziger. In addition the delegates decide about 23 applications. The most important application deals with the introduction of a new third league from 2008/09.
Additionally the foundation of the B-Juniors Bundesliga is planned.
In addition four people are going to be honoured: former minister of the interior Otto Schily, Wilfried Straub and Dr. h.c. Alfred Sengle will become honorary members. And Dr. Herbert Schmalstieg is going to be honoured for his engagement for football with the "Verdienstspange" of the DFB.
