World champion Mats Hummels' transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern München is a done deal. This was confirmed by the respective clubs earlier today. The defender, who played youth football at Bayern until 2007, has been given a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until 30th June 2021. Earlier in the day, FC Bayern confirmed the signing of Renato Sanches from Benfica for 35 million Euros.
Mats Hummels has had his say: "The decision to leave Dortmund, the club I have enjoyed much success with over the past eight and a half years, was not an easy one. I have always been, and always will be, proud to wear the Dortmund kit. Before I return to my hometown this summer we have one big aim: bringing the DFB Cup back to Dortmund. I will give my all to achieve this, just like everyone else in the squad."

Mats has won two Bundesliga titles, the double in 2012, played for us in the Champions League final in 2013, and won the World Cup as a Dortmund player in 2014. We respect his decision, hope that he receives the recognition he deserves in his final weeks here in the yellow of Dortmund, and that he leaves with another DFB Cup winners medal."
