Hrubesch’s Olympic squad meets in Frankfurt

The Germany Olympic team will meet in Frankfurt today for a three day training camp. There are five training sessions scheduled for Horst Hrubesch’s team ahead of their departure to Rio at 22:15 on Saturday evening.

The Germany squad will touch down in Rio before heading straight to Salvador, where they will play their first two matches of the Olympic football tournament. Their first opponent in Group C will be Mexico on Thursday, 4th August. They will then face South Korea on Sunday, 7th August. The third and final group stage fixture will be against Fiji in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday, 10th August.

Coach Horst Hrubesch commented: “We want to use the three days in Frankfurt and the four days on site in Salvador to prepare for the challenges we will face at the Olympic Games. The lads are highly motivated and want to best possible result at the Olympics. We will be trying to win every game and get to the final in Rio. The quality is there.”
