Hingst appointed assistant manager at VfL Wolfsburg

VFL WOLFSBURG: Ex international Ariane Hingst has been named as the new assistant manager at Wolfsburg. The 36-year-old has signed a contract with the second-placed side until the 30th June 2017.

“Wolfsburg are a very professional club. I am really looking forward to working with the expert coaching staff, and the excellent squad,” said Hingst, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2003 and 2007, and the European Championship in 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2009. With 174 total appearances, she is the third most capped player in German women’s football history. Head coach Ralf Kellermann is also pleased with the appointment: “Ariane Hingst has characterised German football for many years. We are very happy to have such an experienced footballer on our side.”

Hingst was crowned German champion with Turbine Potsdam in 2004 and 2006 and won the UEFA Women’s Cup in 2005. In addition, she can boast DFB Cup titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006 (and with 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2011).
