Henning out - Gidion in

Due to an injury (thigh strain), PSG’s Josephine Henning has had to pull out of the upcoming training camp for the women’s national team in Marbella. Head Coach Silvia Neid has called up SGS Essen player Margarita Gidion instead. It is the first call-up into the national team for the 20 year old, who in summer 2014 became World Champion with the Germany U20 team in Canada.

The winter training camp in Marbella serves as the start of their preparation for the World Cup which will take place from the 6th June to the 5th July 2015 in six Canadian host cities. Following participation in the Algarve Cup (2nd to 12th March), the team take on Brazil in an international fixture on 8th April (18:00 CET) in Fürth. Direct preparation for the World Cup will begin on the 18th May with another international fixture planned for during this period.

Germany will play their first group game on the 7th June (22:00 CET) in Ottawa against the Ivory Coast. The group encounter against Euro 2013 runners-up Norway on 11th June (22:00 CET) will take place at the same venue before the national team face Thailand on the 15th June (22:00 CET) in Winnipeg.
