Hecking extends Wolfsburg deal until 2018

Last season’s DFB Cup winners VfL Wolfsburg have extended the contract of manager Dieter Hecking until 2018. The Wolves, who finished second in the Bundesliga last time out, confirmed the news one day after they beat third-division outfit Stuttgart Kickers 4-1 in the first round of this year’s competition. Hecking has managed Wolfsburg since December 2012 and has helped them return to the upper echelons of the table. He is delighted to have renewed his deal: “"I have always emphasised that I wished to remain at VfL Wolfsburg beyond 2016. Here in Wolfsburg I enjoy the absolute trust of those in charge, which is something I would like to express my unyielding gratitude for. We have big plans for the future and I am looking forward to the challenges we have ahead of us.”
