Hard-earned victory against Canada

The German ladies' team seems to be ready for the European Championship in Sweden. The team of head coach Silvia Neid won the next to last test before the trip to the north of Europe 1-0 against Canada. One day before Neid will choose her final squad Leonie Maier scored the goal of the day in Paderborn.

Neid has to scrub one outfield player and one keeper for the final 23-squad. Six women with high potential had to quit their participation in Sweden: Kim Kulig, Babett Peter, Viola Odebrecht, Verena Faißt, Linda Bresonik and Alexandra Popp.

Despite of the bad luck in injuries and the high temperatures in the Benteler-Arena the German team was physically and technically dominant. Maier scored the goal in minute 53. It was her first goal in her 8th match.
