Hannover want to secure first Bundesliga win of 2015 against Hertha

Matchday 28 in the Bundesliga gets under way tonight as Hannover 96 face Hertha BSC (20:30 CEST). Both teams are still searching for important points in the relegation battle. Hannover’s Bundesliga status is particularly under threat. Tayfun Korkut’s team, who haven’t won since matchday 16, currently lie in 15th place (28 points) and are only three points ahead of Hamburger SV, who occupy the first of the relegation spots. In a table taking only the Bundesliga games played so far in 2015 into consideration, Hannover are rock-bottom, having taken just four points.

After coming back from a two-goal deficit, Korkut’s team will have taken real confidence out of last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. A key player in the game was Didier Ya Konan. The Ivorian scored his first goal since his return to Hannover after a six month stint in Saudi Arabia. He could start again against Berlin and perhaps alongside Joselu, who returned to training after missing out through illness earlier in the week.

Hertha are on track

Hertha are in a much better position going into the game. The capital club are by no means completely worry-free but the seven-point cushion certainly allays relegation fears. Pal Dardai’s team have worked hard to put breathing space between themselves and the danger zone, having occupied one of the relegation positions only six matchdays ago. They are unbeaten in their past five Bundesliga matches, collecting a total of eleven points.

Hertha are hoping to build on their good run of results against Hannover. It remains to be seen whether defender Marvin Plattenhardt and striker Roy Beerens will be available for selection after both missed some training this week.
