Threatened with relegation from the Bundesliga, Hannover 96 have parted company with manager Tayfun Korfut on Monday morning, following their recent decline in form. They suffered a 4-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, continuing a 13-game run without a win. According to the club, they should have a new manager in time for home match against 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Korkut officially took over at Hannover 96 on New Year’s Eve in 2013. The 41 year old was close to being sacked last season, but for him and his team being able to secure their Bundesliga status in time, at least for another season. Following that, 96 had a brilliant start to the season, going into the winter break eighth in the league and within touching distance of the Champions League places. Since then, however, Hannover haven’t won a single game – their last victory came on 16th December 2013 in a 2-0 home win against FC Augsburg.
