Today’s Regionalliga Nord clash between VfV Borussia 06 Hildesheim and Hannover 96’s U23 side has been postponed in tragic circumstances. Hannover’s 19-year-old striker Niklas Feierabend lost his life in a car crash, which took place in the early hours of this morning. Two other passengers were killed in the accident.
The club website stated: “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tragic time. Everyone at the club is deeply shocked by this tragedy. Niklas, we’re never going to forget you.”
Niklas Feierabend signed a senior contract in February 2016. This season he scored 11 goals in 23 appearances for their U19 side. He featured in yesterday’s 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig. His teammates will contest the DFB Youth Cup final against Hertha BSC in May.
