Hamburg stumbles at Osnabrück

The Hamburger SV, league leader of the Bundesliga, loses its second round match at third league sided Osnabrück 5-7 (3-3, 2-2, 0-0) after penalty shootout. Bundesliga teams Hertha BSC Berlin, VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg are also out of the run to Berlin.

Round 2 of the DFB Cup started on Tuesday with 16 of overall 32 matches and kept the first surprises in store. Eintracht Trier from the Regionalliga West, fourth league that is, celebrated a stunning comeback against Second Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld. Eintracht were two goals down after 50 minutes but pulled back and decided the match in extra-time 4-2 to their favour.

Elsewhere MSV Duisburg from the Second Bundesliga ousted Borussia Mönchengladbach winning 1-0 at the Bundesliga-side's stadium. Bayern München (5-0 against Oberhausen), Schalke 04 (3-0 at VfL Bochum) and their Ruhr rivals Borussia Dortmund (3-0 at Karlsruhe) had easy wins to make it to the Round of 16.
