Hamburg stay top despite Frankfurt draw

Hamburg remained top of the Bundesliga despite a 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday while rivals Bayer Leverkusen were held to a goalless draw by Werder Bremen.

League-leaders Hamburg got an early breakthrough when former Bayern Munich midfielder Ze Roberto netted in the eighth minute, but Frankfurt went into the half-time break all square after defender Marco Russ equalised.

Thanks to goals by Ivica Olic and Daniel van Buyten Bayern München beat 1. FC Nürnberg 2-1 (0-0) on Saturday. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had scored the momentary equalizer for Nürnberg. 1. FC Köln celebrated their first win of the season when they beat home team Stuttgart 2-0 (1-0) while 1899 Hoffenheim had a great comeback against Borussia Mönchengladbach who they beat 4-2 (1-2) after trailing by two goals.

On Friday the new coach of Schalke 04, Felix Magath, lost the match against his former team VfL Wolfsburg 1-2 (0-0). Edin Dzeko scored a brace for the reigning champions, Benedikt Höwedes had temporarily equalized for Schalke.
