Gündogan undergoes successful knee operation

Germany international Ilkay Gündogan has undergone a successful knee operation the day before Christmas Eve. “I’m doing well and today’s surgery went fine,” tweeted the Manchester City midfielder on Friday afternoon. “Now it’s another road to recovery.”

Gündogan suffered the knee injury last week in Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Watford FC last week. He made his debut for Manchester City after recovering from a knee injury in September and has been regularly featuring for the club ever since.

The 26-year old already missed the European Championship finals in France during the summer after dislocating his right knee. He also missed the 2014 World Cup finals due to the same problems that kept him out for a year at Borussia Dortmund.
