Gündogan fires City to win against Barca; Özil dazzles as Arsenal book last 16 spot

Ilkay Gündogan scored a brace for as Manchester City came from behind to beat Marc-André ter Stegen's Barcelona 3-1 at home. The Germany international scored the first and third goals in City’s impressive win, while Mesut Özil also bagged the winner for Arsenal in their 3-2 win away win at Ludogorets. The win confirmed the Gunners’ spot in the round of 16 with two games to spare.

Despite going behind early on through Lionel Messi, Gündogan grabbed an equaliser for the Citizens shortly before the half-time break. Kevin De Bruyne put the hosts in front with a free kick in the second half, before Gündogan wrapped up the win with 15 minutes left to play.

Arsene Wenger’s side, who romped to a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture two weeks ago, found themselves with a mountain to climb when they went 2-0 down in the opening 15 minutes thanks to goals from Jonathan Cafu and Claudiu Keserü. Arsenal fought back before the break however, with Granit Xhaka and Olivier Giroud both scoring to level the tie. Özil provided the glorious winner in the dying minutes of the second half when he flicked the ball over the goalkeeper and tricked the defence with a feigned shot before scoring.
