Guardiola: "Will miss my players"

Roman Bürki (Borussia Dortmund): It's obviously very disappointing to lose in this fashion. We had enough chances to decide the game in our favour throughout the regular 90 minutes. There is always luck involved in a penalty shoot-out.

FC Bayern München beat Borussia Dortmund 4-3 on penalties in yesterday’s DFB Cup final and have now lifted the trophy on 18 occasions. DFB.de spoke to the protagonists after the final whistle to find out their thoughts on the match.

Germany head coach Joachim Löw: Congratulations to FC Bayern. It was a hard-fought win and Dortmund made life tough for them. You always need a bit of luck in a penalty shoot-out and Bayern had that today. They've had a fantastic season. Pep Guardiola deserves credit and will be missed in the Bundesliga. I'm happy for him and I'm sure that he will be similarly successful in England. Adios Pep and all the best!

Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola: Dortmund had some good chances today and could have won. Anything can happen in a penalty shoot-out. We are obviously happy with the outcome. My three years with these players were outstanding. I wish FC Bayern all the best for the future. I will miss my players.

Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel: I should've opted for a different sequence of players to take the penalties. We showed great defensive discipline but didn't deliver our best performance today. When in possession we weren't able to play our game and simply took too long to find our rhythm. I'm not satisfied the performance - we can do better.

Manuel Neuer (Bayern München): I would've liked the game to end in the regular 90 minutes. We've had a great season and rewarded ourselves tonight.

Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund): We produced a great fight, but didn't play to our potential. Penalty shoot-outs are always a lottery. It's a big shame to have lost and we are all very sad right now.

Jerome Boateng (Bayern München): A penalty shoot-out is never easy. A lot of pressure rests on the shoulders of those players taking a penalty and if you then also face Manuel Neuer, it gets harder still. We fully deserved to win today.

Thomas Müller (Bayern München): It was an intense game. You could tell with all players that it's been a long season and that this match was very energy-consuming. We deserved to win today, as we dominated most of the match - although Dortmund had some chances of their own from counterattacks.

Roman Bürki (Borussia Dortmund): It's obviously very disappointing to lose in this fashion. We had enough chances to decide the game in our favour throughout the regular 90 minutes. There is always luck involved in a penalty shoot-out.
