Grindel, Koch, Löw and Bierhoff congratulate FCB on historic title

FC Bayern München claimed their 26th German championship and their fourth straight title on Saturday - a historic record. A 2-1 victory against FC Ingolstadt on matchday 33 ensured the record champions can not be caught by Borussia Dortmund on the final matchday next weekend. DFB President Reinhard Grindel, Vice-President Dr. Rainer Koch, Germany coach Joachim Löw and national team manager Oliver Bierhoff congratulated Bayern via DFB.de.

Reinhard Grindel, DFB President: Congratulations to the new German champions on behalf of the DFB for an impressive season and a highly deserved title. The fact that FC Bayern München has become the first team in the history of the Bundesliga to win the title four times in a row is credited to an outstanding coach, a great team and the entire club leadership around Karl Hopfner and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. I'm already looking forward to the Cup final on May 21st between the new German champions and Borussia Dortmund in Berlin.

Dr. Rainer Koch, first DFB Vice-President: FC Bayern München are playing an outstanding season despite their close exit from the Champions League semi-final and the fully deserve to have claimed their 26th German championship. The high standard of football that FC Bayern have produced year for year in the Bundesliga, but also in the DFB Cup and Champions League is not to be taken for granted and it does not happen automatically even though they have a world class squad.

Joachim Löw, national team coach: Congratulations to FC Bayern for winning the German championship and especially to Pep Guardiola, the players and all those responsible at the club. A fourth straight title expresses great quality, enormous will-power and the unbelievable consistency that Bayern have produced these last few years.

Oliver Bierhoff, national team manager: Congratulations FC Bayern! Congratulations to the club leadership at Bayern around Karl Hopfner and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on winning a record setting title. You can feel that Bayern are never satisfied and that they always want to confirm their success.
