Golden Boys Draxler and Werner scoop Confed Cup honours

Germany captain Julian Draxler was named Player of the Tournament after Joachim Löw’s side were crowned FIFA Confederations Cup winners on following a 1-0 victory over Chile on Sunday evening. Draxler received the Golden Ball from footballing legend Diego Maradona.

Timo Werner was also awarded the tournament’s Golden Boot. The RB Leipzig man, who scored three goals and assisted two, was handed the award by Brazilian forward Ronaldo. Leon Goretzka and final matchwinner Lars Stindl also scored three goals each, but had fewer assists.

Chile captain Claudio Bravo was handed the Golden Glove award for goalkeeper of the tournament by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
