FC Bayern München will be without world champion Mario Götze in Saturday’s DFB Cup final against Borussia Dortmund (20:00 CEST). The 23-year-old suffered a broken rib and a partial fracture of another one on the last Bundesliga matchday against Hannover 96 (3-1).
Götze will be sidelined for ten to fourteen days. He has received “daily treatment” and has also travelled with the team to Berlin. Ahead of FCB’s final training session on Friday afternoon though, the decision was taken that he can’t play.
However, there was good news for Bayern concerning Javi Martinez. After struggling with ankle problems, the central defender came through Friday’s training session at Berlin’s Olympiastadion unscathed.
