Götze and the DFB-Team shortlisted for Laureus Awards

The Germany national team, World Cup match-winner Mario Götze, the Mercedes Formula 1 team and Paralympan Anna Schaffelhuber have been shortlisted for the 2015 Laureus World Sports Awards. In the category "Laureus World Team of the Year", the winners of the FIFA World Cup find themselves up against the Mercedes Racing Team, made up of World Champion Lewis Hamilton and runner-up Nico Rosberg. Mercedes also won the Constructor’s World Championship for the first time.

“It’s a great honour to be nominated for such an important award,” commented head coach Joachim Löw. “It rewards performances which have gained global appreciation.” Mercedes Executive Director Toto Wolff is also happy about the nomination. “We’re really proud that journalists from all over the world have shortlisted us for the team of the year award. It shows that hard work pays off,” he explained.
