Goalkeeper Kämper out with knee injury

Germany women’s goalkeeper Meike Kämper picked up a knee injury in the team’s final training session ahead of their European Championship qualifier this evening. After receiving initial treatment in Moscow the 22-year-old MSV Duisburg keeper has flown back to Germany to have further inspections on the injury. A full diagnosis should then be made available. Head coach Steffi Jones has decided to not replace Kämper in her squad.

The Germany team will face their Russian counterparts in Moscow tonight (18:00 CEST) in what is their penultimate European Championship qualifier. The game against Hungary in Györ on Tuesday (16:00 CEST) will be Germany’s last qualifier. The Olympic gold medallists have already qualified for EURO 2017 which will take place in Holland.
