The Germany U21s will play their final group match of the Confederations Cup on Saturday against Italy (20:45 CEST). Serge Gnabry and Nadiem Amiri spoke about the upcoming match, their aims and important figures at the press conference.
Serge Gnabry on...
...the 2018 World Cup and the Confederations Cup: That's not an issue. We're in full tournament mode. We all have a joint aim and the World Cup is not a factor. I'm watching the games and texting my teammates.
...Horst Hrubesch: Horst is a great guy. He's very honest and very direct with me. He always invited me back even though I didn't play for the club. I have a great relationship with him on and off the pitch.
...the Bundesliga: German football has developed a lot over the last few years. The level is very, very high. Lots of young players are making their way to the top.
...Prospect of a semi-final place: Our aim is simply to win. That would be the easiest solution.
Nadiem Amiri on...
...Italy: Italy is a defensively strong team with good wingers, but we have more individual quality.
...Serge Gnabry: He's a great guy. He always lifts the mood. On the pitch he's very impressive.
...the Confed Cup: We're full of confidence and want to make this tournament ours.
...his aims for the tournament: I'll give my best for the team. We all want to achieve something big and I hope that I can help the team.
