Gladbach close in on Wolfsburg

Borussia Mönchengladbach secured a 2-1 victory in Berlin over Hertha BSC to reclaim third place and reduce the gap to Wolfsburg to just two points. For Hertha, the defeat means that they continue to find themselves close to the relegation zone but they are still five points ahead of SC Freiburg in 16th place.

The Foals controlled the action in Berlin's Olympic Stadium from the off and took the lead through Max Kruse's goal in the eleventh minute, as the Germany international bagged his tenth goal of the season. But the hosts responded immediately as Valentin Stocker scored the equaliser from close range just two minutes after Gladbach had taken the lead.

More chances followed for Gladbach as they pushed to regain the lead. However, various promising opportunities were missed before substitute Ibrahima Traoré scored an 85th-minute winner with a nicely curled effort from the edge of the box to hand Gladbach the victory in the capital.
