Germany’s women will play in Halle, Wiesbaden and Sandhausen

The first international for the Germany women’s team after the recent World Cup will take place on 18th September 2015 in Halle/Saala. Silvia Neid’s team will face Hungary in their first qualifying match for the 2017 European Championship, as confirmed today by the presidential board of the DFB.

Also confirmed were the venues for two other home fixtures during the same qualifying period – Germany’s match with Russia on 22nd October 2015 will take place in Wiesbaden, and just three days later the Frauenmannschaft face Turkey in Sandhausen (25th October). Kick-off times are yet to be confirmed.

"We’re happy that we can kick off our quest for qualification to the EUROs in three cities with modern stadia, in front of a football-mad home crowd,” said general manager Doris Fitschen. "Qualifying for the tournament in the Netherlands is one of our next big goals. I’m sure we’ll be awaited by an excellent atmosphere at all three matches."

Alongside Hungary, Russia and Turkey, Croatia make up the final team in Germany’s Group 5 – Germany will travel to Croatia for a game on 22nd September, which completes their competitive calendar for this year. The pre-sale of tickets for the Hungary match in Halle will begin shortly, with more information about this game and the other home ties available at dfb.de/tickets.

16 teams will contest the European Championship in the Netherlands in July 2017. There are eight qualifying groups, each of five teams, from which the eight group winners will progress to the tournament proper alongside the six best runners-up. The two remaining runners-up will take on each other in a playoff, to be held between 17th and 25th October 2016, to see who takes the final spot in the finals.
