Germany's Women to feature on FIFA 16

The Germany Women’s team are becoming global players. First they are off to the World Cup in Canada this summer, and then comes their collaboration with EA SPORTS – the European Champions will be one of twelve women’s national teams to feature on FIFA 16 on its release from 24th September 2015. Alongside the DFB-Team, sides from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Italy, Mexico, Sweden, Spain and the USA will also be available to play with in the popular video game. All twelve teams will feature in various FIFA 16 game modes, including kick-off, offline tournaments and online friendlies.

“This significant and surprising step from EA SPORTS is sure to increase the popularity of women’s football and therefore our Women’s national team,” said Denni Strich, director of marketing at the DFB. “The technology that EA SPORTS make use of in their latest titles will really make playing with our players an extraordinary experience.” Women’s World Footballer of the Year Nadine Keßler can’t wait for the game to come out: “It’s a great feeling. I love playing FIFA. Seeing myself in the game is simply overwhelming.”

Germany Women’s motions and likeness realistically captured

The developers have reproduced the teams with authentic player motions and appearances, as well as realistic animations and attributes. The detailed capturing of player movements took place at a motion-capture session at EA SPORTS in Canada. The used USA internationals Sydney Leroux, Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe to record typical movements to allow the female players to sprint, run etc. as realistically as possible in FIFA 16. 360-degree body scans were also taken of the Canada national team as the basis for the new player model. All of the teams have been head scanned to ensure life-like facial animations and hair movement.

“The integration of women’s football in FIFA 16 is a huge step,” said Björn Vöcking, marking director of Electronic Arts Deutschland. “We’re delighted that millions of FIFA fans worldwide will have the thrill of playing with the Germany Women’s national team. Thanks to our innovative 3D capturing and our close cooperation with the DFB, we’ve been able to create a realistic representation of the players in the game.”

FIFA 16 with the Women’s Germany national team will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and via Origin for PC.
