Germany's women to face Ireland in Dublin

The women's national team will play their first World Cup qualifier of 2014 against Ireland in Dublin on 5 April at the 6,000-seater Tallaght Stadium. The kick-off time is 4 pm.

The two teams leading World Cup Qualifying Group 1 will contest the encounter in the Irish capital. With five wins from five matches, Germany are clear group leaders with 15 points and 40 goals scored. Ireland are in second place with seven points, but have only played three matches so far. Coach Susan Ronan's team have beaten Slovakia 2-0 and Slovenia 3-0, but drew 1-1 with Croatia.

24 teams to contest World Cup finals for first time

Only the winners from each of the seven European groups will qualify directly for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 in Canada. The four best second-placed teams will then contest play-off matches to decide the final participants from the UEFA groups.

The World Cup will take place in six Canadian cities between 6 June and 5 July 2015, with 24 teams taking part for the first time. The qualification stage ends on 17 September 2014.
