Germany’s Olympic champions to play in Regensburg, Chemnitz and Aalen

The women’s national team will play their final three international matches of the calendar year in Regensburg, Aalen and Chemnitz. The fixtures were confirmed at the DFB headquarters during the organisation's conference in Frankfurt am Main.

In Aalen, the team’s new head coach Steffi Jones will take charge of the squad on 25th October (16:10 CEST) against The Netherlands, while the team will bring their season to a close on 29th November (16:00 CET) in Chemnitz against Norway. The first home match for Steffi Jones in her new role takes place on 22nd October in Regensburg, with details of the opposition being released at a future date.

Jones: “the beautiful locations will add to the atmosphere”

Steffi Jones says, “We are glad that we are going to have the opportunity to host these teams in Regensburg, Aalen and Chemnitz and I think the beautiful locations of these fixtures will add to the atmosphere. Aalen recently really raised its profile by hosting the U19s European Championships. I am excited about Regensburg and Chemnitz since it will be the first time the women’s German national team have ever played there. All of these venues provide optimum conditions for international matches. More importantly, The Netherlands and Norway will be very strong opponents that will give us the opportunity to really test ourselves. Every match is important preparation for us before we head to the European Championships in The Netherlands in 2017.”

The DFB women take on Russia in Moscow on 16th September (18:00 CEST) and Hungary in Györ on 20th September (16:00) in their last two qualifiers for the European Championships. The team secured their place at the finals of the tournament prior to the Olympics.
