The German national team will contest their match in Mönchengladbach on 1 June 2014 against Cameroon, leaving only the opponents for the final international in Mainz on 6 June as yet unconfirmed.
General Secretary Helmut Sandrock said: "The team’s management were keen to play a strong African side ahead of the World Cup in Brazil. Cameroon, who will also be playing in Brazil, are top opponents and will provide a stern test ahead of our group game against Ghana."
Bierhoff: “The match is extremely appealing for both sides”
Oliver Bierhoff added: "I had already discussed the idea of this friendly with Cameroon’s coach Volker Finke at the group draw in Brazil. It’s an extremely appealing match for both sides, which makes us all the more pleased that could agree this fixture so quickly."
The Nationalmannschaft will contest four more international matches before boarding their flight to Brazil. Captain Philipp Lahm and his team begin 2014 by playing Chile in Stuttgart on 5 March, before playing Poland in Hamburg on 13 May. Matches three and four are the encounters in Gladbach and Mainz, where Germany will play in front of their fans for the final time before travelling to Brazil on 7 June.
