Germany opened Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a victory

In the qualifiers for the 2016 European Championship in France, Germany beat Scotland 2-1 (1-0). Despite their bitter defeat against Argentina on Wednesday, Germany has been able to defeat the Scottish team via a double score of Thomas Müller. With the victory over Scotland Germany ranks second behind Poland who won their first match against Gibraltar 7-0.

Nine players who participated in the World Cup in Brasil were in the German starting line-up, with Manuel Neuer captaining the side in the absence of his injured Bayern Munich teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger.
