Germany one win away from World Cup after 3-0 at Faroe Islands

The German National Team celebrated its seventh win in eight World Cup qualifiers with a 3-0 (1-0) at minnows Faroe Islands on Tuesday. To secure the trip to Brazil 2014 one win out of the last two games is all Coach Joachim Löw and his players need.

Per Mertesacker gave Germany a well-deserved lead after 22 minutes, after Miroslav Klose and Julian Draxler via Atli Gregersen had only hit the post twice before. After the break it was Mesut Özil who added the second goal from the penalty spot in minute 74 after Thomas Müller had been brought down in the box by Gregersen, who was shown the Red Card.

Müller himself made it three goals six minutes from time from close range, leaving Germany five points clear of runners-up Sweden, who took three points from Kazakhstan (1-0).
