Germany manager Löw backs Gomez

Joachim Löw has given his backing to Mario Gomez. “If Mario is fit, healthy and well-adjusted to the routine of training and playing matches again, then his quality and potential can be a contribution to any team, including the national team,” Germany’s coach told SID, underlining the fact that he considers the 29-year-old ACF Fiorentina striker a valuable asset for the DFB-Team’s journey to the 2016 European Championship in France.

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella had made public statements that were understood to be critical of Gomez’s ability. Gomez, who scored three goals at the 2012 European Championship but was left out of the World Cup squad in 2014 following several spell on the sidelines, doesn't want to comment on his current situation. Instead, he wants to let the facts speak for themselves and deliver a good performance in Fiorentina’s visit to Chievo Verona in Serie A on Wednesday and in the Italian Cup round of 16 against Atalanta next week.
