Germany maintain top spot in FIFA world rankings

Germany are still ranked the best team in world, despite their disappointing start to their European Championship qualifying campaign. The World Champions maintain top spot in the FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings, three months after their win in Rio de Janeiro. With 1669 points, Joachim Löw’s side has a comfortable gap over World Cup runners up Argentina, who are in second place with 1565 points. Colombia remain in third place, with 1420 points, whilst Belgium (1388) and the Netherlands (1375) have swapped places and sit in fourth and fifth respectively.

Some other big European footballing nations have all climbed two places in the rankings: France (1191) are now in seventh behind Brazil (1307), Portugal (1175) have climbed into the top ten into ninth, and Italy (1064) have jumped into eleventh and are now in touch with the top ten. The rankings for next month will be released on November 27th 2014.
