Germany finish fourth place at Algarve Cup 2009

Germany lost the match for third place 0-1 (0-1) against Denmark and finished fourth at Algarve Cup 2009. In Faro Julie Rydahl-Bukh (42.) scored the game winning goal for Denmark.

"Denmark deserved the win today", DFB-Coach Silvia Neid said after the match: "We tried to get the hold of the game in the second half, but the players looked very tired."

For Germany it was the fourth match in Portugal. The tournament started with a 2-0 (0:0) victory over Finnland, in game two Germany beat China 3-0. After a 2-3 (0-3) defeat against Sweden in the last group match Germany failed to make it to the final.

In the final Sweden won the tournament after a 5-4 after penalties against USA. It was the fourth title at Algarve Cup for Sweden.
