A huge draw for Die Mannschaft. The reigning World Cup champions will compete against France and the Netherlands in the inaugural UEFA Nations League group stage draw as decided this afternoon in the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne. Joachim Löw’s side will be battling it out to reach the finals from Group A1.

The Nations League sees the 55 competing nations split into four leagues (A to D) based on their ranking with these four leagues divided further into four groups. After facing one another between September and November, the group winners from each league then face each other in a play-off format and the four winners from each league qualify for the 2020 European Championships.

In the situation where the group winners have already reached the 2020 European Championships, the second placed team will compete in the play-offs for a spot at EURO 2020. Every league – including League D with the smaller nations – has a place at the 2020 European Championships at stake.
