Germany celebrate 3-0 against Tunisia

Three goals in the final 16 minutes moved hosts Germany to within touching distance of the Confederations Cup semi-finals after a 3-0 win over Tunisia here on Saturday.

Captain Michael Ballack broke the deadlock in the 74th minute converting his second penalty in successive matches after Wissem Abdi had fouled him in the box.

Bayern Munich team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger scored a second six minutes later and substitute Mike Hanke, only on the pitch a matter of seconds, struck in the 88th minute to give the scoreline a somewhat flattering look.

If Australia fail to beat Argentina in their Group A match on Saturday Germany will be certain of a spot in the last four. For Tunisia the competition is over after two straight defeats and the African champions are left to rue missed chances, such as the penalty miss against Argentina, and three clear-cut chances in Cologne.
