Germany and China sign football agreement

Representatives from the German and Chinese governments today signed an extensive agreement to create a football partnership between their respective nations. Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel had held talks to discuss the agreement, but it was eventually signed today in the German Chancellery in Berlin, as the Chinese Vice President Liu Yandong is currently visiting Germany.

The partnership, which will span five years, consists of a basic agreement at state level, as well as an agreement between the DFB, the DFL, the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Chinese Football Association. The partnership will involve a continuous and mutual exchange between both countries, with the aim of developing Chinese football, both in terms of educating players, coaches and referees, as well as helping in the organisation of the league.
