German Women beat Italy 5-0 in an international friendly

The Women's National Team celebrated an easy 5-0 (2-0) victory against Italy in an international friendly in Krefeld. 15.746 visitors in Grotenburg Stadium the team of coach Silvia Neid had an excellent test for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Switzerland later this month.

Top striker Birgit Prinz opened the score after just two minutes, leaving Italian goalkeeper Carla Brunozzi with no chance from twelve metres. Prinz doubled her goal tally twenty minutes later, when she netted a wonderful combination between Kerstin Stegemann and Sandra Smisek from close range.

After the break Kerstin Garefrekes (51st) and substitutes Isabell Bachor (72nd) and Martina Müller (89th) made it 5-0. As if the result would'nt have been bitter enough, Italy saw defender Eva Valeri sent off with her second yellow card after 86 minutes.
