German Under 19 qualify for European Championship

The German Under-19 national team qualified for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Austria on Saturday after beating Bulgaria 2-0 (2-0) at Belfield Park in Dublin.

In the mini-tournament the Germans finished first with seven points followed by hosts Ireland (6), Hungary (2) and Bulgaria (1). Only the top team of each qualification group progress to the finals in Austria, which take place from July 16 - 27, 2007.

Dennis Schmidt (21'), who played from the beginning for the first time in the tournament, scored the first goal, before Sidney Sam assured victory in the 27th minute.
