German U 21 win EC-qualifier against Moldova 3-0

The German Under-21 beat Moldova in their third EC qualifier on Tuesday 3-0 (1-0). Mesut Özil (36th/70th) and Rouwen Hennings (90th) scored for the German team that now top the table in group I.

After the game German coach Dieter Eilts was satisfied: "We had hoped to top the table after the double header. Now with a tie at Israel and a win against Moldova we have reached our goal."

In front of 6300 spectators the German team outclassed the visitors from Eastern Europe at the stadium "Husterhöhe" in Pirmasens. After Andrej Cojocari was sent off with a red card (71st), Moldova had to finish the game with only ten players.

Germany held up in Tel-Aviv

On Friday, Israel earned a deserved point against Germany at the Ramat Gan Stadium in front of a record crowd for an Under-21 qualifier in the country.

Some 12.000 spectators saw Israel recover from conceding a 19th-minute goal to Rouwen Hennings by scoring through Maor Bar Buzaglo and Hen Azriel either side of half-time, before Hennings equalised late on.
