In a further statement, the OC President commented on completing the line-up of six National Supporters: “We’re delighted we’ve been able to conclude all six contracts at such an early stage. This provides yet more evidence of the appeal of women’s football in general, and the exceptionally high expectations relating to the first FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.”

Range of activities will be staged

In its role as National Supporter, Deutsche Bahn AG will stage a range of activities aimed at the key target group of kids and youths, underlining the company’s social commitment. “Elite football and youth development have been the twin pillars of our involvement in the game for a long time now,” said Grube.

Deutsche Bahn AG is the sixth and final National Supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 in Germany, Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) chairman Dr. Rüdiger Grube, German Football Association (DFB) President Dr. Theo Zwanziger, and Local Organising Committee President Steffi Jones announced in Munich today. With 16 months still to go before the opening match in Berlin on 26 June 2011, the line-up of National Supporters of the first FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany is now complete.

“We are delighted to have the German railways on our team as a National Supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011. Deutsche Bahn is world-renowned, both as an outstanding mobility and logistics service provider, and for its commitment to football. This was emphatically demonstrated by the company’s role as an Official Supplier to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. That’s why knowing we have the railways with us in 2011 was a matter of the utmost importance to us,” commented Dr. Zwanziger.

"Secured another top brand to support the World Cup 2011"

"In Deutsche Bahn AG we have secured yet another top brand to support the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011," said Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director. "Deutsche Bahn AG were an important part of the 2006 FIFA World Cup team, proving extremely helpful in the logistical aspects of hosting such a major event. We are delighted that they will again be lending their support during the FIFA Women's World Cup and we look forward to working with them."

Speaking on the day of the men’s international friendly between Germany and Argentina in Munich, Dr. Grube said: “The FIFA World Cup in 2006 proved beyond doubt that our country can be roused to passion. The DB was part of the event as an Official Supplier. This is why we were so keen to support the FIFA Women’s World Cup as well, thereby helping the World Cup in 2011 to stir enthusiasm around the world, similar to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. We’ll offer the very best possible support to the players and their fans.”

In a further statement, the DB chairman said: “Many officials and football fans will be relying on the local and long-distance railway network, both before and especially during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. We intend to serve our domestic and international customers well with our reliability and client-friendliness. Our subsidiary DB Schenker will again draw on its huge reservoir of logistics experience. Once again, we intend to demonstrate our productivity and efficiency.”

Perfect connection

“Our teamwork with Deutsche Bahn is the perfect connection. A global event such as the World Cup, with its exceptionally heavy demands in the area of transportation, is hardly imaginable without the railway network as a provider of mobility and logistic services. Furthermore, the support of Deutsche Bahn as an internationally renowned business will contribute to women’s football growing in significance both at home and abroad,” commented Steffi Jones.

In a further statement, the OC President commented on completing the line-up of six National Supporters: “We’re delighted we’ve been able to conclude all six contracts at such an early stage.
