France crowned European U19 Champions

France’s U19s have been crowned European Champions two weeks after the senior team lost to Portugal in the final of EURO 2016. The “Equipe Tricolore’s” young talents won the final of the European U19 Championship 4-0 against Italy in Baden-Württemberg and secured their third title in this age group after also lifting the trophy in 2005 and 2010.

Top scorer Jean-Kévin Augustin opened the scoring in the sixth minute in front of 20,000 spectators at a sold out stadium in Sinsheim, before Ludovic Blas doubled the lead shortly after. France captain Lucas Tousart and Issa Diop put the game thoroughly to bed in the closing stages. The two finalists had already qualified for the U20 World Cup in South Korea along with Germany ahead of the final.
