Five World Champions make Bundesliga XI

Five FC Bayern players, five Borussia Dortmund players and Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Chicharito were voted into the Bundesliga XI of the first half of the season. The vote was conducted via bundesliga.de with the top teams dominating as expected. Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel received the honours for best coach so far this season.

Defending champions FC Bayern are represented by keeper Manuel Neuer, defenders Jerome Boateng and Philipp Lahm and attackers Thomas Müller and Douglas Costa. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was not included in the line-up, as the striker positions were occupied by Mexican international Javier Hernandez and Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who received the most votes out of all players (26,633). Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer, Ilkay Gündogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan complete the top XI of the first half of the season.

German users and international users voted the same players on ten out of twelve positions. The only differences took place in attacking midfielder, where the international users preferred Shinji Kagawa over Thomas Müller and for the coaching honours, with Pal Dardai receiving the most votes nationwide but Tuchel earning the award overall.
