Five Manchester players in the Gibraltar squad for game against Germany

Gibraltar’s 23-man squad against World Champions Germany will feature five players from Manchester. However, none of them play for Premier League sides United or City – the quintet play for Manchester 62 FC, currently fifth in Gibraltar’s Premier Division. Allen Bula, Gibraltar’s national team manager, announced his squad for the European Champions qualifier with Germany on Thursday. Captained by Joseph Chipolina (Lincoln Red Imps/Gibraltar), they take on Germany on Friday, November 14th (20:45 CET) in Nürnberg with four foreign-based players in their squad.

Their most well known player is Scott Wiseman. The defender plays for Preston North End, who are currently second in England’s third division. Jake Gosling (Bristol Rovers, 5th tier) and Adam Priestley (Farsley AFC, 8th tier) also play in England, while David Artell is under contract with Welsh top flight side Bala Town. The majority of Gibraltar’s squad is made up of players who are currently active for the domestic record champions Lincoln.

Gibraltar joined the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in May 2013 and were drawn in Group D alongside Germany in their first ever participation in a qualifying round. They are yet to record their first point in their bid for Euro 2016 qualification, having lost matches against Poland, Ireland and Georgia with a total goal record of 0-17.
