Fifth straight home win: Kaiserslautern on course for promotion

1. FC Kaiserslautern recorded their fifth consecutive home victory, underlining their determination to challenge for a promotion spot. They remain in third place following a 2-1 victory over 1. FC Nürnberg on matchday 25, level on points with SV Darmstadt 98 in second place.

Nürnberg on the other hand will not be playing a role in the promotion race this season, following their third consecutive game without a victory. They are currently eleven points behind Kaiserslautern.

Alexander Ring (14') and Philipp Hofmann (30') gave the hosts an early two-goal lead. Nürnberg's Alessandro Schöpf (90') pulled one back but it was too little too late.

St. Pauli and FSV Frankfurt share the points

The other 2. Bundesliga game on Saturday featured FC St. Pauli and FSV Frankfurt and ended 1-1. It was a lost opportunity for the home side to further improve their situation in the relegation battle, following their impressive and surprising victory on the road last weekend against Eintracht Braunschweig. Lennart Thy (46') scored the opener shortly after the restart but Joni Kauko (58') equalised for the visitors, who remain unbeaten in 2015.

St. Pauli climb into 16th place with now 22 points. The two teams currently ranked lower than St Pauli, Erzgebirge Aue (21 points) and VfR Aalen (20), play each other on Sunday. Frankfurt have 33 points to their name and have established a healthy cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.
